In Sir Ocelot's Cave, Sir Ocelot and Professor Penguin explore a newly discovered cave system, competing for the precious gemstones found inside. To locate and collect gemstones, you will be using your tools — compass, lamp, and pickaxe — and your trusty companion’s good instincts. The deeper you get into the cave, the more valuable treasure you will find! In the end, the player with the most valuable collection of gemstones wins the game!

How to play:

Players alternate taking turns until the game ends. You must go through the following steps in this order:

1. Move your companion (optional) Starting with the first cave (blue level), you can assign your trusty companion to any empty space or one containing a (1-point) rock crystal. If placed on a (1-point) rock crystal, this is yours. Once inside a cave, you only can move your companion forward to the next cave level. You may move your companion only once per turn.

NOTE: If you not feel like placing your companion in step 1., proceed with steps 2. to 3. until you want to start your turn by placing it.

2. Place a token (mandatory) Regardless if you placed or moved your companion yet, you MUST place exactly one token: - either a tool on an empty circular space on the perimeter of a cave - or - if you have not already - the companion in side the (blue level) cave

Your goal is to place the token such that you can collect gemstones. Be sure to check all visual axis after placing a token IRL. Here on boardgamerarena.com, the implementation will do this for you.

You may place tools freely on the perimeter of any cave if the space is still vacant. you are not required to start at level 1. Note that tools are double-sided, showing different tools on both sides.

3. Collect gemstones (optional) After placing a token, check if you can collect any gemstones: to collect a gemstone, it must be "seen" from three different sides by three different tools. One of the tools may be your trusty <B<companion. It serves as a wild tool for collection gemstones, i.e. it can replace a missing tool for YOU.

Note: Your companion does not block the view for your opponent, but it will only serve you to collect.

The game ends when you both run out of tokens to place. The player with the most valuable collection wins.

What to collect:

Gemstones: score points as shown on the token
Geodes: are innocent looking rocks that need to be opened. When you collect a geode, immediately draw an amethyst from the corresponding bag (matching the color of the cave); the geode will be discarded. Amethysts are worth varying amounts of points. Their value is kept hidden until the end of the game.
Celestites: This mysterious type of gemstone is only available in level-1-cave and comes in three shapes: a sun, a crescent moon and a star. Whenever you collect a set of all three shapes, immediately draw an amethyst from the blue bag. Unlike geodes, you get to keep the celestites.

Have fun exploring Sir Ocelot's Cave!
